Two soldiers died on Monday when a military helicopter crashed in Gyeonggi Province, western South Korea.
Military authorities reported that an AH-1S Cobra military helicopter crashed in Gapyeong, about 55 kilometers northeast of the capital, Seoul, after taking off for training.
They clarified that the incident did not involve any fires or explosions, and noted that an investigation has been opened into the exact cause of the accident.
The incident occurred during a flight training aimed at familiarizing crew members with emergency landing procedures.
Last March, Korean forces reported a collision between a military drone and a parked helicopter at Yangju Air Base north of Seoul, which resulted in no injuries.
